Games
EverQuest:
Here is a bit from an nVidia employee on Everquest:
My name is Connar I work for NVIDIA in the QA department. I have seen some quality issues with our drivers and EverQuest. Such as a outline around the trees that is the same color as the sky. This is caused by the fact EQ is drawing form front to back instead of back to front and the wrong abject is getting Alpha blending. Any ways there are some settings in our driver panel that would help with this problem and a few other odds and ends.
Now that EQ has the Direct 3D in place, none 3DFX cards can change resolutions beyond 640x480. For users of RIVA TNT with the latest NVIDIA drivers I recommend the following settings:
Mipmapping:
Number of Mipmap : Levels: >8
Auto-Mipmap : Trilinear
Mipmap detail : Best quality
Allow dithering : Checked
Anti-aliasing in Hardware : Checked
Anti-aliasing method : Best image quality
In Advanced Options:
Enable fog table : UnCheck
Disable enhanced CPU : Checked if you do not have 3DNOW or KMI
With these settings I am able to get the best performance and image quality. Please share this as you see fit. I just wanted our users to know how they can get the best out of there NVIDIA product and EQ.
Final Fantasy 7
Q: With my Riva TNT card when I run Final Fantasy 7 my screen becomes corrupt!
Help!!
A: Eidos has released a patch available at: ftp://ftp.eidosinteractive.com/pub/pc/FF7/ff7riva.exe
F1 Racing Sim
Apply the latest Direct 3D patch from our F1RS Patch Page.
Forsaken
The latest Forsaken
Patch will add a RivaTNT mode for Forsaken.
Quake
In order to play GLQuake you will have to delete the OpenGL32.dll in your
quake directory. Also make sure you have the latest GLQuake installed from our Quake Patch page.
Quake II
A lot of people complain that while playing Quake 2 in OpenGL it is too
dark. You can greatly improve the overall visibility by putting the following two
lines in your autoexec.cfg :
set intensity "2.0"
set gl_modulate "2.5"
Note: if you don't have a autoexec.cfg in your Quake2\baseq2 directory you will have to create one. or you can use this one.
You may also want to use Dan Kennedys Autoexec generator over at Tweak 3D.
Shogo: Mobile Armor Division
Q: I've got a Riva TNT, or a Nvidia ZX video card, and the screen is 1/4
size! Help!!
A: Go into the Advanced Options under the Shogo Launcher, and make sure that Triple
Buffering is enabled for the card to work correctly.
SiN
Though not a problem SiN is a little dark. Make sure you have the
latest patches and try Tweak 3D's
Config gernerator to brighten it up.
Unreal
While waiting for the official Unreal D3D patch you can use the following
taken from Tweak 3D's News:
Download the G200 patch here, and unzip it to your Unreal\system directory.
Download the new DLL here, and also unzip that to your Unreal\system directory.
Start Unreal. Some graphical details may not show up, and some textures may be torn or invisible, but it should be fast and have great image quality. If it starts windowed, try switching the resolution and changing it to full screen.
